Here’s wishing you a Very Happy Chinese New Year!
This year Chinese New Year began on 14th February which is also the Valentine day.
As usual, our house was packed with relatives on the first day of Chinese New Year. There were about 50 relatives visiting us and among them father in law is the eldest.
For the celebration, this year, I only bought four types of cookies, but I fried a few types of Indonesia prawn crackers from the small round one to the big one and the stick type which looks like French fries. These crackers then became the favorite food. The rest which were more than twelve containers of cookies were brought over by sister in law, brother in law and Angela (my hometown friend). Also butter cake and prune layer cake from hubby’s aunties.
Beside cake and cookies, hubby cooked porridge prepared with scallop, oyster (“hou si”), dried squid slices (“sotong si”), pork and winter melon soup for the relatives.
It was about 4pm when we finally were able to take some rest.
Later at the night, we went to sister in law’s house to celebrate her youngest daughter’s birthday.
We were exhausted on that day but happy!
On the second day of Chinese New Year Xin Yi started to cough. She ate too much cookies and prawn crackers! On the fourth day I had to bring her to doctor as her cough became worse. She had high fever the next day because of her throat infection. After one dose of paracetamol and antibiotic the fever then subsided.
Now she is getting better, no more fever and cough but her voice still yet back to normal!

Chinese New Year decoration @Megamall, Mid ValleyReunion Dinner
We had our early reunion dinner (7th February 2010) with late mother in law’s sister, brothers and their families at La La Chong Seafood Restaurant, the same restaurant we had last year.
We had yee sang, la la (clams), prawns, chickens, crabs, vegetables and a few others which I forgot. Unfortunately I had fever on that day and no appetite. The only food I enjoyed was la la but I “da bao” back my favorite food “crab”, hehe…
Since we had quite early reunion this year, at Chinese New Year’s Eve, we had reunion dinner again at home with our own family members: brother in law, sister in law and their families. We had yee sang, a few dishes and soup, one of the dishes was chicken marinated with garlic, onion and ginger (“lou gai”) from the grandmother recipe.
Time flies, in another two days it will be the 15th day of Chinese New Year, the end of the Chinese New Year celebration.
