It’s a tiring month for us.
Teng Hong had his school exam (PKBS 3) from 3 August till 20 August. There were 10 exams in two weeks time. I was glad he was co-operative in doing his revision. This time he was not blur like last exam; he knew exactly what exam (subject) he did.
At the last day of his exam, my sister-in-law’s aunties (one from Medan and another one from Jakarta) came to stay with us. The younger auntie just had a surgery to remove a lump in her tongue at Penang. Glad to know that the surgery was successful and the lump is not cancer. They were here for a week before go back to the hospital for follow-up check-up. We were quite busy accompanying them during their stay.
Due to lots of complaint from Teng Hong’s teachers regarding his short attention span, slowness, messiness, etc. and feedback from one of Teng Hong’s ex-kindie's teachers who is also a teacher of special needs children, I managed to get a referral letter from a nearby clinic to get Teng Hong to a hospital for consultation.
He got his first appointment with Psychiatrist on 23 August. After about an hour assessment, the Psychiatrist said the slowness is caused by the inattention, not the muscle problem. He couldn’t response fast because he wasn’t concentrating or paying attention. Anyway she will go through the problem one by one.
She then gave me a few questionnaires to be filled by parents and school class teacher. She recommends placing Teng Hong at a small class size so he can get more attention from teachers. She will start medication for Teng Hong at the next visit.
And today is Malaysia Independence Day. After a tiring month, daddy took us to IOI for a movie treat. We watched “The Last Airbender”. Teng Hong is the happiest person; he had been waiting for this movie for weeks. This was the third movie the kids watched at cinema, the first one was “Princess and The Frog” which we watched at last Christmas day and the second one was “Toy Story 3” which we watched in July.
All of us enjoyed the movie very much. It’s a Happy Family Day!
