A Best Friend’s Visit

I was so excited this past weekend. My best friend since I was six, Siek Hui was coming for holiday. She was here with her family, her sister and brother in law; they were on their way back from Penang to Padang, her sister and brother in law were on their way back to Medan. It has been a year since her husband underwent a procedure to insert a ring into his artery at Penang; two of his heart blood vessels are partially blocked. At this visit he went back to the doctor for annual check up and glad to know that the result is good.

Teng Hong and Xin Yi had been so excited a few weeks before their arrival. They were looking forward to playing with Alvin (Siek Hui’s son). As soon as they met, Teng Hong couldn’t wait to play with Alvin’s Nintendo DS, and later he exchanged his Sony PSP with Alvin's DS whenever they met. Kids being kids :)

They arrived at KL last Friday, soon after they checked in and had their lunch, we went to KLCC by train. Since they stayed at Cititel Mid Valley, it took only a few minutes to walk to the Komuter train station which is located just opposite to Megamall Mid Valley. We stopped at KL Sentral station and then continued the journey with Putra train to KLCC. We took the kids to the KLCC pool, but they were so disappointed to find out that the pool was closed due to some upgrading work!

Later I took them to Dinotrek at PetroSains while the mummies were busy shopping. The kids played happily in the Dinotrek for two hours. There are: Dino Chase, Dino Dance, Dino Dig, Dino Puzzle, Dino Feed, etc. With only RM 3 for children (5 – 12 years) and RM 6 for above 12 years, it really worth to let the children learn something about dinosaurs and have fun there!

Around 5.30pm we left KLCC by Putra train. It was so packed; we could only get to KL Sentral station. At Komuter train station we have to give up our tickets, we couldn’t get into the train after waited for so long, so we decided to take a Cab but none was available at this “after office hour”. At last we went back by bus after waited for some time, sigh!

Arrived at Megamall Mid Valley, hubby and father in law already there waiting for us to have dinner. :)

On Saturday, instead of going to Genting Highland as plan, we went to Desa Water Park for water blast. There are many pools there but they only had fun at Shock Wave pool (with waves as high as 1.5 meters), Surf Shark pool (children’s water playground), Action River (a river stream which is 1200meters long) and Water Factory (with machine which enables you to shoot water). Their main attraction Thunder Bolt, the longest and the first gravity-defying water coaster in Asia is too dangerous for the small kids to ride.

We left Desa Water Park around 3.30pm after having fun there for almost four hours. I sent them back to Megamall Mid Valley to do their shopping before I went back to pick them up at night, for dinner at Bangsar Village. Finally after dinner, it’s time for us to say good bye as they would leave KL the next day.

I miss you, my dearest friend. It’s great to catch up with you and your family!

Teng Hong's 2009 First Semester Assessment Report

After three weeks of waiting, finally the assessment report was handed out to mummy at a teacher-parent meeting last week.

The test results are as follows:

  • English : 100%
  • Bahasa Malaysia : 99%
  • Chinese : 93%
  • Numbers : 70%

Teng Hong was quite corporative with mummy in doing revision for his first semester written assessment.

Though his numbers’ test is a bit below mummy’s expectation, mummy and daddy feel quite satisfied with his test results. According to his teacher, he was playing with his pencil and day dreaming while doing the numbers’ test. Later when it’s time up, he simply wrote the answers! That’s explained why he only scored 70% for that paper.

For skills which include gross motor skills, fine motor skills, work habits, social emotional skills and language skills, he is getting improvement and some of them are satisfied.

Teachers’ feedback: he has short attention span, can’t focus or concentrate in lessons (especially those he is not interested) and messy place (books and accessories are everywhere under his table).

Ah, this is my boy!

Mass Birthday Picnic at TTDI Park

This morning a group of June babies celebrated their birthday at Taman Tun Dr Ismail Park, Kuala Lumpur. There were thirteen kids in total and Xin Yi was among them. Located near the shallow stream, they did not only celebrate their birthday which was organized by demoments, but had fun playing water & sand as well.

It was indeed a perfect morning for family picnic! At first mummy was a bit worry when there was heavy rain in the morning just a day before, but thanks God, the mass birthday picnic turned out to be a wonderful event!

Happy Birthday to all June Babies!

No lighter! The kids had to pretend to blow out the candles, hehe...

She is 3

Happy 3rd Birthday to you, my little princess!

Hard to believe but my baby girl turned 3 yesterday. Time really flies. It seems like just yesterday when she did entirely depend on me. Now, she has grown into an adorable little girl who is very talkative and helpful at times. She never fails to show me her intelligence and really fascinated me at the time she uses up to ten words in a sentence. She is only 3!

The only complaint I have is “her eating habit”. Just imagine, other than junk food, it takes her 1 hour or more to finish ½ bowl of rice. Any idea how to make her eat faster?

Last night we celebrated her birthday with immediate family at Chatter Box Restaurant, Bangsar Village. It’s indeed a Happy Birthday for her!

Apart from the above celebration, we will bring her for a Mass Birthday Picnic with a group of June Babies at TTDI Park this coming Sunday.

Six-Monthly Dental Check-Up (13th June 2009)

Yesterday the whole family had six-monthly dental check-up at Dr. Ng clinic, Subang Jaya.

Teng Hong is not scared anymore; he was the first one to get his teeth checked. Dr. Ng managed to fill up the cavity at his lower left secondary primary molar and as usual Dr. Ng gave him some stickers as a reward. By now all his first molar teeth have erupted which means we have to take extra care of his new permanent teeth. We don’t want him to get any cavity for those new teeth; the past bad experience has made him suffer so much!

Xin Yi was the next one to get her teeth checked. She gave us a surprise; without calling her, she climbed onto the dental chair by herself and opened wide her mouth to let Dr. Ng check and brush her teeth. Dr. Ng only managed to brush her lower teeth; she refused her to brush the upper part. However, that’s a good improvement. At the last visit, she even refused to sit at the dental chair!

After that was mummy’s turn and as usual, mummy only needed some scaling.

This time daddy decided to make dentures after a few years ignoring it. He accepted what Dr. Ng advised and recommended him and for this he needs to go back again next week.

Dinner @Pasta Zanmai, Mid Valley

Today after shopping around and let the kids played for an hour at Jusco Smart Wonderland, Megamall, Mid Valley, we had our early dinner at Pasta Zanmai, a Japanese Casual Pasta Restaurant. We never been to this restaurant; mummy who had no idea about the food just followed and let daddy choose the order.

Here are what we had:

Unagi Kabayaki to Onsen Tamago (Roasted Eel & Hot Spring Egg with Kabayaki Sauce), RM 19.00

Ebi Tempura no Gomadare Shitate (Prawn Tempura Pasta with Sesame Sauce), RM 29.00

Garlic Rice, RM 8.00

Ice Fruit Tea (Jug), RM 16.00

The kids liked the Ice Fruit Tea very much; they had it more than the main dishes. They didn’t really like the pasta and rice, they only ate the prawn, roasted eel and miso soup.

Mummy who was actually not in the mood to eat Japanese food would say it’s YUMMY! Just imagine mummy could finish the garlic rice, miso soup, the delicious salad and the kids’ portion (Prawn tempura pasta). As for daddy the taste was pretty good except the sesame taste which was a bit too strong for him. He ordered another bowl of garlic rice for himself after "income tax" a bit from mummy. :D

That’s My Boy

Teng Hong turned 5½ years old on 23rd May 2009. He is getting more independent and more “mature” by the day. He always makes sure mummy feels happy and loves him. Almost every morning he wants mummy to lullaby him like a baby before he really gets out of his bed.

Since July last year, he has been interested in Ultraman. He has about 20 Ultraman DVDs and more than 40 Ultraman toys. Last Saturday he got another toy from daddy, the Ultraman Agul.

Beside Ultraman, he also likes Transformers. Daddy bought him a few Transformers since April last year but he started to get interested in it since his 5th birthday (November) when daddy bought him the TRANSFORMERS Nemesis Prime. Later there are few transformers, like: Bumble Bee, Optimus Prime, Cybertron, Star Scream, etc added to his collection.

Boys will be boys after all; he becomes the Ben 10 fans soon after being introduced by my friend’s son who came to visit us. Since then he has quite a lot of Ben 10 accessories, like: comics, DVDs, stickers, watch, omnitrix, pencils, pencil case, school bags and shirts which has become his school uniform. *wink*

He also made daddy bought him a Sony PSP (PlayStation Portable) early this year. We didn’t buy him a Game Boy which he looked forward to having it as his birthday present last year.

See, how lucky he is! Sometimes mummy just thinks whether he is spoiled or not.

Mummy enrolled him in Taekwondo class November last year. The main purpose is for him to mix around and exercise. At first he couldn’t pay attention during the practice; he would just look around or play. Lately after six months joined the class, mummy observes that he has better focus on the practice.

Last Saturday while running (part of the Taekwondo class) he had a fall and knocked the back of his head on the ground. Luckily it was not serious!

On 22nd April 2009, he just had a great fall while playing Gym ball at his kindie and as a result the back of his head was swollen as big as half of a “marble”. The principal called and told mummy about that incident. When mummy went to the kindie to see him, he cried out loud and mummy was shocked to see the big bum. He never got such a big bum on his head before. Later after the school outing to Domino Pizza which he insisted to go, mummy took him to check with his pediatrician. After looked at his head and checked his knee jerk reflex, doctor said there should be no problem but we had to monitor him for 24 - 48 hours. If there is pale, vomiting or drowsiness then we have to get back to her or go to hospital directly.

We were glad that he was fine and the swollen was disappeared in about one week.

In the sense of direction, he is excellent! Last two weeks while on the way to “Aman Suria”, he suddenly asked mummy if we are going to the “Hot Air Balloon” place. Mummy then recalled that we ever been there last year for a “Hot Air Balloon ride” at Dijaya sales night. See, we only passed that road once and he can remember it well! There are a lot of other places that he can tell us well.

Early this month, mummy just discovered that his lower first molar teeth have erupted; the right tooth has emerged more than the left one. Last week the upper first molar teeth have erupted as well. He is only 5.5 years old; still doesn’t know how to brush his teeth properly, sigh!

At kindie, according to some of his teachers’ feedbacks, he can’t focus or concentrate in lessons and that has caused him can’t do well in some of his work!

After received that message and talked to some of his teachers, we talked to him, encouraged and tried to coach him more on his school work at home. Now his concentration has improved a bit but we still need to encourage him on this matter. This week he is having First Semester written assessment for English, Numbers, Chinese including Han Yi Pin Yin and Bahasa Malaysia, we do hope that he will concentrate and do well on his tests!

A Fun Day for the Kids

After no family outing for more than a week because the kids were sick, finally we took them out for having fun yesterday. We went to Tropicana City Mall at PJ and it turned out to be a happy day for them!

They played at some coin-operated kiddy rides, read some story books and comics at Borders, had their favorite ice cream, played at Toys”R”Us and bounced at the Bouncy Castles. The last one was the most excited for them; they bounced and bounced until their bodies were up and down.

High Fever Attack

Teng Hong started fever on Wednesday morning; he woke up at 6am with mild fever. After took medicine he went back to sleep, his fever then subsided and he attended his kindie as usual.
Back from kindie he was fine until late at the night, his body temperature suddenly climbed up to 39.4C. I quickly inserted a suppository into his rectum, the temperature stopped going up but it took about an hour to subside. I then kept on measuring his temperature every hour and was shocked to see the reading was 39.8C. It was about 6 hours after the suppository! I quickly gave him Paracetamol and sponged bath him with a big towel. He felt better as the temperature started to drop.

This morning I took him to a doctor, who confirmed that he got a bad sore throat besides flu and for this, he needs to take antibiotic, sigh!

The same thing happened to his little sister, Xin Yi. She started to have fever this morning, also cause by sore throat but not as serious as his brother. Though I get the antibiotic from the doctor, I haven’t started the course for her, try to wait and see for another one or two days.

Until now both of them still have fever off and on. I hope they will get well soon after the medication!

My New Skin Care Line

Last December while people were busy shopping for Christmas gifts, I was busy searching new skin care products for myself. The Lancome Pure Focus skin care products which I have used for years have been discontinued and this has made me think of switching to another brand.

After read some product reviews, heard some advice from friends and skin care consultants finally I decided to try this brand, Beaute de Kose.

I have been using these products for four months now and I am happy they are suitable for me.

Last Tuesday when Kose had promotion at Megamall's Centre Court, Mid Valley, I purchased another bottle of Sekkisei Lotion and Emulsion. I also purchased the RM30 Kose voucher which enables me to get a door gift Kose Pore Serum 30ml worth RM152 and a photo shoot by photographer with a minimum purchase of RM150 include the RM30 voucher. Isn’t it worth?

She never wants to pose for me and this is her first time :)

A Visitor in the Night

Monday, 20th April 2009

It was about 3.30am when hubby yelled at me while I was in my beauty sleep, asking me to switch on the light! I was a bit shocked and quickly on the light; I saw him trying to trap something with his blanket. It was a centipede, about two inches in length.

Without thinking much, I passed an air-conditioner remote control, the nearest thing I could get to hubby and while he was pressing on the centipede with the remote control, I then got an envelope for him to put it in so I could take it out from the bedroom.

Luckily hubby woke up when he felt something’s crawling on him and managed to catch it. I just could not imagine how if the centipede runs away, crawls on the kids and bites them.

Thanks God it’s not happened!

This has made me recall the incident happened more than ten years ago! A big centipede crawled on me and bit my hand while I was sleeping, caused pain and swelling. I woke up because of the pain and could feel the centipede crawled away from my body. The movement was very fast, I can still remember the feeling of those legs until now. The worst I could not manage to catch it at that time and I had to stay awake the rest of that night trying to find it.

That explained how scared I am of this creature!
