Update on Xin Yi

After many months MIA, now I am BACK!

Time really flies. She turned six last Saturday. It seems like just yesterday when she did entirely depend on me. Now, she has grown into an adorable little girl who is quite independent and helpful at times. She does most of her own chores but she still likes mummy to feed her. She does her homework all by herself, helps mummy with the vegetables and dishes and helps her nine years old brother to wash his school shoes every once in a while.

This year, she celebrated her birthday with her friends at kindie and also with immediate family at Indulge Cafe. Instead of a Barbie or Princess cake, she chose Hokkaido Mille Crepe cake. It's a yummy cake!

She got a musical box from mummy which she loves very much and some other presents from the family.

It was indeed her BIG day!

This morning, mummy attended her kindie’s teacher-parent meeting. There is no more assessment report since Ministry of Education has given direction that there will be no examination and written assessment for preschool children. So the kindie is introducing the new monthly report on the progress of the children.

Before the end of the first term, the children were given some revision on the topics they have learnt follow by some works to do for their exercises.

Her class teacher reported that Xin Yi is good in all subjects. She is a quiet and careful type but able to socialize well with her classmates.

When come to sing alone or tell story time, she is still lack of confident. I told her teacher that these do not happen at home!

Mummy hopes she can get more confident and better in these areas as she grows up.

Well done, darling! Keep up the good work.

Malindo @Facebook

Early this year, I was added to this group by my friend. She is also same like me, an Indonesian who got married to a Malaysian.

At first, I don’t notice about the group. I was too busy with the Chinese New Year preparation. Its a few days or weeks later I found out that it’s a group of Indonesian people who got married to Malaysian and stay here, in Malaysia. That’s how the name of the group was created, Mal for Malaysia and Indo for Indonesia.

Thanks to my friend who added me to this group and thanks to the group creator who gave birth to Malindo.

With this group, we are able to know each other and share with them. I even met up with a new friend from Malindo at Mid Valley last week.

His Crocs Getting Caught in Escalator

The black stripes on the back of the shoe and broken sling are caused by escalator entrapment.

It happened last December when he was in Medan (mummy’s hometown).

We were in shopping mall. Teng Hong fell down when he was getting off the escalator, left one side of his crocs shoes at the top of escalator. He then shouted at me, telling me that his shoe was still there. When I saw it, the shoe was going into the top gap of the escalator; the escalator was still moving and sucking the shoe deeper and deeper until it stopped.

I don’t know how it happened exactly and Teng Hong was not able to tell me. He only told me that he was looking at something when the escalator moving towards the top and then he fell. Luckily he was not injured.

In fact, I always remind him about the safety warning when we ride on escalators, but it happened to him too! I better keep an eye on the kids every time they ride an escalator.

Disable Car Alarm

I don’t know what happened to my car remote control.

It was the first day my kids back to school after their long year-end holidays. I sent my boy to school and because it was his first day in Primary 3, I parked my car in a secure place thinking to accompany him and spend some time with him in the school.

Not long after the class teacher went into the class, I left the school. I was so surprised when my car remote control doesn't work. It was alright at the time I locked the car. I saw a car with the same problem as mine and a few other cars with the alarm siren keep sounding.

Thinking it might be the battery problem, I went to nearby hardware shops but unfortunately two shops also don’t sell the type of battery that my remote control uses.

I walked back to my car; try to unlock the door directly with car key. Of course, the alarm siren sounds and I was not able to on the engine.

Car alarm locked me out; I can’t start my car.

There was nobody can help me so I decided to take taxi home to get the spare remote control. On the way back, I called my girl to change and get ready to kindergarten. After sent her, I went back to my car with the same taxi and while walking to my car I passed by another hardware shop which just opened. Yahoo, they have the battery; before the shopkeeper helped me to change he checked the power first. He said my battery is full, not the battery problem. He told me to use my spare remote, if still not working it might be the frequency problem.

It’s very unlucky, my spare remote control also not working. This time, I called my hubby to get help. He called the car’s agent and asked how to solve the problem. When hubby got back to me, he instructed me to press some buttons on the remote but not working too. Later he decided to come to help me.

While waiting for him to come, I walked back to the hardware shop and asked the shop-keeper whether he knows how to disable the alarm or not. He told me to try the below method:
1. Insert your car key, turn ignition key to 'ON' & 'OFF' 5 times continuously.
2. Take out the key and press the “Lock” button follow by “Unlock” button at the remote control.

As soon as I completed the second step, the alarm siren disappeared and I was able to on my engine.

Sigh, if only I know it earlier, I didn’t need to waste my time and my energy so much.

I quickly drove my car home and I found that my remote control can work as usual.

The next morning I met the owner of another car with the same problem. He told me that his remote control also back to normal. So, what happened to our car remote controls?

Have you ever experienced this problem?

An Amazing Teeth Movement

I still remember how my seven years old boy’s teeth looked like when the two permanent lower front teeth coming in. It seemed there was not enough space for the two permanent teeth to move forward into the correct positions after the double teeth fell out. Later it really amazed me to see his teeth moving into perfect alignment.

It was 23rd November 2011. Early morning he told mummy that it was his birthday and kept asking for his birthday present that he had reminded mummy to buy a few days ago.

To train him to be more patient, mummy made him wait until dinner time when we were going to celebrate his birthday at home.

He was very happy to find out what is his birthday present. There are six mechanical pencils which he loves very much and some other presents from a Kong, Po Po and his sister. Daddy promised to get him a present later.

Their First 3D, Transformers: DARK OF THE MOON

After several weeks, finally hubby managed to get the Transformers 3D tickets. A friend helped him to purchase the tickets online. It cost us RM 85.50 for five.

At first, I was afraid I won’t like the movie but later I found that it’s quite interesting and I am able to understand the story. Most of the characters are quite familiar to me; hubby and my boy have a series of Transformers toy collection at home. My boy, Teng Hong ever lectured me about the Autobots and Decepticons. All these helped me to understand the movie better.

Some of the Transformers Toy Collection

Hubby and the kids enjoyed the movie very much. I would enjoy it more if I didn’t feel dizzy after watching the 3D.

Anyway, I like the movie.

This is the kids’ first 3D movie. They had their first 2D movie in 2009 Christmas, Princess and The Frog, followed by Toy Story 3 a few months later, next The Last Airbender and Kung Fu Panda 3 at last school holidays.
